Any ITP student who has been cleared to become a provisional instructor will serve as a class TA and also prove instructional skills while the lead instructor observes. If the course requires a TA, then the provisional instructor would receive TA compensation including travel expenses. If the course does not require a TA, the provisional instructor will receive TA compensation without travel expenses.
Provisional instruction is coordinated by program manager, instructor, and provisional instructor using these guidelines:
- PI to teach up to 1/3 of the course
- PI to teach no more than 2 labs per day (including lecture & demo), 1 lab is OK
- Instructor & PI should plan cc’ing program manager and director (What’sApp is best)
- Instructor should observe and report back to program manager and director after conclusion of class via email
