Since then she has worked in a variety of therapy settings from skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to outpatient orthopedics and pediatrics. Her own journey with chronic pain and extended illness has given her a deep and unique empathy for those who suffer. On an average day, you’ll find her in Bridgewater working in her yard surrounded by her three children and pilot husband.
I have been a PT for 27+ years and graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1997 with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. I have been a counterstrain therapist since 2011, which has changed the trajectory of my PT practice and have never looked back. Fascial Counterstrain is now almost 100% of my practice. The power and depth of this gentle manual technique helps me to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions. I am very passionate about this technique and have had all of the classes offered at this point. I continue to study and retake classes to improve my knowledge and skills set to further help improve the quality of life for my patients.
I spent a few years as a research chemist before realizing I’d rather work with people than test tubes. Now 28 years into my career, I credit starting my study of Counterstrain in 2013 as the moment that transformed not only my effectiveness as a Physical Therapist, but my entire career. The help I can give people using Counterstrain is what gets me out of bed in the morning and charges me throughout the day.
