I am in private practice utilizing mostly Fascial Counterstain to treat a variety of conditions. I have specialized over my 20 year career in chronic and difficult patient presentations. I have taken course work in Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, direct joint manipulation, exercise, neuromuscular facilitation and ergonomics. I have found Counterstain to be the most effective treatment by far for treating the root cause of dysfunction.

Christine Wood, PT, DPT, LMT, earned a physical therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1992, a doctorate in physical therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009 and a massage therapy license in 2018.
Since the very beginning of her career she has been driven to help people heal and live their lives free of pain. Christine took her first Fascial Counterstrain course in 2011. The power and versatility of the technique combined with the anatomy-based science was an immediate draw for her. Once she experienced the way it honors the body both by its gentleness and by its systematic approach to finding what the body needs, she was hooked.
Realizing the inherent weaknesses of the current medical model, Christine obtained a massage therapy license so she could provide Fascial Counterstrain to people without the need for a doctor’s referral.
Christine has been a teaching assistant for the Jones Institute since 2014 and for Counterstrain Academy since 2020. She is also enrolled in the Academy’s Instructor Training Program and will soon be bringing this knowledge to other practitioners across the country.
Christine is the owner of Horizons Therapy in Waynesboro, VA.

Laura was introduced to Counterstrain at a young age from repeated sports injuries. By the age of seventeen, she was working in a physical therapy clinic and was fortunate enough to work with amazing manual therapists that have shaped the therapist she has become today. Laura moved to The Columbia River Gorge in 1994 and started her career as a physical therapist assistant. She focused her career and continuing education on manual therapy, specifically osteopathic techniques. Laura has always been drawn to their holistic approach to the body.
Her Counterstrain journey with The Jones Institute started in 1996 which has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience which she continues today with a focus on Fascial Counterstrain. In 2012, Laura earned her Board Certification in Strain & Counterstrain from The Jones Institute (JSCC). She decided it was time to transition from physical therapy to an independent Counterstrain practice under a massage therapy license received in 2013. Her passion for Counterstrain and hunger for learning led her to the Counterstrain Academy in 2014. Laura has completed all modules offered by the Counterstrain Academy and joined the Instructor Training Program in 2019.
Fascial Counterstrain is a technique Laura has personally benefited from, truly believes in, and loves to work with. She feels blessed to be able to share it with you.

Dr. Manny Kim, DPT, PRC is an integrative physical therapist licensed in the state of Maryland and Virginia. A Chicago native, Manny received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Kim approaches every patient using a multi-system paradigm to treat the human body as a ‘whole’ and not just a part. His goal is to identify underlying influences and ‘drivers’ to postural patterns and musculoskeletal imbalances that often cause pain, dysfunction, and faulty movement patterns. Corrective strategies and interventions can then be provided once the problem is understood.
He is a strong proponent of interdisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide the best outcomes for his patients.

Loretta graduated and started a private practice as an LMT over 25 years ago. She was introduced to Strain Counterstrain, the work of Lawrence Jones, in the early 90’s. His concepts impacted her work greatly. In 2015 learning of Fascial Counterstrain, developed by Brian Tuckey amplified her deep appreciation of the anatomical and functional understanding of the human body. In her words, “Treating from a multi system paradigm has proven to be the most effective approach to the human body I have found.”
Loretta’s dedication runs deep as she has completed all classes multiple times and has been acting as a Teaching Assistant for both the Jones Institute and Counterstrain Academy, along with being a member of the Instructor Training Program. Recently, Fascial Counterstrain Level 1 Certified Practitioner.
Counterstrain is a powerful foundational work that is innovative, effective, and gentle. Each person is unique, perhaps with similar symptoms, but very different core dysfunctions. Counterstrain techniques allow us to look at the whole body, finding the underlying areas of trapped inflammation and restrictions. Addressing these areas contribute to an environment for healing which leads to restoring wellness to the entire body. Counterstrain changed my life personally which has rooted my level of dedication and passion to help others with this amazing technique. Counterstrain truly changes lives!

Mr. Tuckey is the originator of Fascial Counterstrain and has developed all of the courses in the Fascial Counterstrain Curriculum. Brian started studying Counterstrain techniques with Lawrence Jones D.O in 1992 and eventually became one of only 4 physical therapists in the world to be personally certified by Dr. Jones to teach Strain and Counterstrain technique (SCS.)
Brian was the first practitioner to recognize that Counterstrain was impacting the body’s deep fascial system and developed the current physiological rationale for Counterstrain “A New Rationale and Treatment Model for Neuromuscular Tender Points.” Over a 25-year period, he has gradually expanded Dr. Jones’s original work from approximately 200 techniques to over 850 anatomically specific techniques which is now called Fascial Counterstrain (FCS.) Additionally, Brian has also developed an innovative assessment tool called the FCS Cranial Scan. This proprietary assessment method utilizes the fascial system’s relationship to the embryological neural crest (head) to accurately predict dysfunction in all systems and regions of the human body. Practitioners proficient in the FCS cranial scan can identify the key dysfunctions in a patient’s body in seconds.
Brian spends much of his time teaching FCS domestically through the Jones Institute www.jisci.com and internationally through various business partners. When not teaching, he treats complex patients utilizing the FCS methodology at Tuckey and Associates Physical Therapy in Frederick, Maryland.

Audrey Tan, DPT, CIYT, is owner of Body Ease Physical Therapy and Yoga. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from California State University, Fresno, and is also a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Audrey has been helping people improve their health and wellness for more than 20 years, and took her first Counterstrain class in 2014, which was a life changing event. Counterstrain immediately resonated with her background in Iyengar yoga – the approach was gentle, relaxing, viewed the person as a whole person, and above all, practiced ahimsa (non-harming). Since then, Audrey has delved head first into Fascial Counterstrain, taking every available Jones Institute class, as well as Counterstrain Academy courses.
