Jonathan Eng, PT, DPT, CSCS, graduated from Boston College with a BA in Economics in 2001 and earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Pacific University in 2013. His 20+ years of coaching, racing, and strength & conditioning experience, extensive background in athletics and movement science compliment his clinical skills in orthopedic manual therapy and Fascial Counterstrain. He credits his success as a sports physio to the integration of Counterstrain into his practice. Professional and recreational athletes alike benefit from the subtle indirect treatment method Counterstrain provides, allowing athletes to restore balance to tissues and physiologic systems, to go on and perform at their best. He is excited for the opportunity to share the awesomeness of Counterstrain as a member of the Instructor Training Program. Jonathan’s practice is the on-site physio for Adidas North America in Portland, OR. In 2024, Village PT opened a second location in SW Portland. Visit movement-hub.com for location information.

Mr. Tuckey is the originator of Fascial Counterstrain and has developed all of the courses in the Fascial Counterstrain Curriculum. Brian started studying Counterstrain techniques with Lawrence Jones D.O in 1992 and eventually became one of only 4 physical therapists in the world to be personally certified by Dr. Jones to teach Strain and Counterstrain technique (SCS.)
Brian was the first practitioner to recognize that Counterstrain was impacting the body’s deep fascial system and developed the current physiological rationale for Counterstrain “A New Rationale and Treatment Model for Neuromuscular Tender Points.” Over a 25-year period, he has gradually expanded Dr. Jones’s original work from approximately 200 techniques to over 850 anatomically specific techniques which is now called Fascial Counterstrain (FCS.) Additionally, Brian has also developed an innovative assessment tool called the FCS Cranial Scan. This proprietary assessment method utilizes the fascial system’s relationship to the embryological neural crest (head) to accurately predict dysfunction in all systems and regions of the human body. Practitioners proficient in the FCS cranial scan can identify the key dysfunctions in a patient’s body in seconds.
Brian spends much of his time teaching FCS domestically through the Jones Institute www.jisci.com and internationally through various business partners. When not teaching, he treats complex patients utilizing the FCS methodology at Tuckey and Associates Physical Therapy in Frederick, Maryland.

Audrey Tan, DPT, CIYT, is owner of Body Ease Physical Therapy and Yoga. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from California State University, Fresno, and is also a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Audrey has been helping people improve their health and wellness for more than 20 years, and took her first Counterstrain class in 2014, which was a life changing event. Counterstrain immediately resonated with her background in Iyengar yoga – the approach was gentle, relaxing, viewed the person as a whole person, and above all, practiced ahimsa (non-harming). Since then, Audrey has delved head first into Fascial Counterstrain, taking every available Jones Institute class, as well as Counterstrain Academy courses.

My dad nicknamed me Bibo when I was two years old growing up in Taiwan. This has affectionately become my identity all the way through PT school to present. Being exposed to the benefits of both eastern and western medicine peaked my interest to pursue an education in manual physical therapy. My deep compassion for people has moved me to make it a career. I love helping people feel their best!
I received my PT degree at the National Yang-Ming University and became a physical therapist in 2011. Although I have taken many continuing education courses on manual therapy over the years, Counterstrain is by far the one method that truly altered my life professionally and personally. It not only fixed my long term GI problem that no doctors or medication could, but also strengthened me and supported me greatly throughout my pregnancies, labors and postpartum recovery. It is more than just a technique, but a multi-system holistic approach to wellness. Rather than treating superficial symptoms, Counterstrain powerfully digs into the root cause of issues, and yet at the same time, is extremely gentle on your body.
I couldn’t be more excited to be taking the mastery program with Counterstrain Academy. I look forward to helping more people with this powerful technique!

I am a physical therapist with 25 years of manual therapy experience. Being self-employed for 20 years, I have the freedom to spend more time with each client to address their individual needs. I found Fascial Counterstrain in 2016 when I was searching for more effective techniques for my patients. I have been inspired and committed to learning. Counterstrain is an amazing technique that has taken me, my practice and my patients to the next level of health and wellness.

Ann Bulkin graduated Samuel Merritt College in Oakland with a Master’s degree in physical therapy in 1996. After obtaining her degree she went on to take a broad variety of continuing education classes every year. Her initial strongest interest was in the osteopathic approaches to manual therapy that had relieved her chronic back and neck pain. She also pursued the work of Shirley Sahrmann, targeting specific muscle recruitment. Her first class in Counterstrain was in 2004, an original Jones class covering treatment to the extremities. For a variety of reasons, her next class did not take place until the spring of 2014 when she took her first class in Fascial releases for the visceral system. While she had achieved success using her prior training, she immediately recognized this technique as something on a completely other level. Since that time she has dedicated herself to a continuous path of improvement as a Counterstrainer. She treats everyone who walks into her office with a combination of three approaches. While she spends the vast majority of her time on Counterstrain, she also enjoys educating her patients on exercises to support their healing, as well as ergonomics and body mechanics that are specific to their activities.
