Maia was introduced to Fascial Counterstrain as a patient in 2022. She was blown away by the modality and its ability to integrate all of the body systems and hone in on the root cause of pain or dysfunction. With a new found love for the gentle nature of the techniques and a passion for helping those in pain, Maia earned her massage therapy certification and has been taking FCS classes since 2024. Maia has a BA in Biology and an MA in Teaching and has been a science teacher since 2016. She finds that her background in Biology allows her to grasp the anatomical and physiological components of FCS, while her natural intuition helps to guide her hands. She continues to teach Biology to high schoolers, but is now offering Counterstrain part-time out of her home in the rural Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
Corey graduated Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors Degree in Applied Health Science in 2008. Then graduated Professional Skills Institute in 2012 with an Associates in Physical Therapist Assisting. He then worked in multiple settings during his career as a PTA including outpatient aquatics, traditional outpatient, skilled nursing, and spent the majority of his time in home health. In 2022, Corey underwent the Fascial Counterstrain Introduction course. He then returned to Bowling Green State University to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and becoming a licensed Physical Therapist in the states of Ohio and Michigan in 2024. Since graduating Corey has resumed his study of FCS and is looking forward to spending the rest of his career studying and applying these techniques to help patients reach their full potential.

I am a Naturopathic Doctor. My passion is to help people reach their peak health. For every patient that is a different journey. My passion is chronic pain, but I treat a variety of conditions. I have seen so many patients over the years whose lives have been greatly impacted by chronic disease. I believe using the body’s innate ability to heal and decreasing inflammation with Counterstrain is the best chance of success. I have taken most of the fascial counterstrain courses, and use the techniques as my primary means of treatment for restoration of chronic pain conditions.
Dr. DelGiorno is a pediatrician with 25+ years of experience in primary care. She also has 35+ years as a wife and mother of a family with significant medical struggles. Chronic unwellness challenged her day job, causing her to seek out new potential treatments that are more effective and less harmful than typical modern-day medicines.
Fascial Counterstrain is what she stumbled in to and then jumped into head first. It is now the best tool in her toolbox to actually address the issues the body is asking to be addressed. She is still a pediatrician in Gaithersburg, MD, but now also offers this tool to those not in her practice through Well Wins in North Potomac, MD.
Dr. DelGiorno is a native Marylander, attending Loyola in Baltimore, then the University of Maryland for Medical School and pediatric residency.
Since earning my physiotherapy degree in 2003 in Lausanne, Switzerland, I have pursued extensive postgraduate training across a wide range of manual therapy approaches—including muscular and joint-based techniques, neurodynamics, and vascular and visceral therapies—along with additional complementary areas of study.
In 2018, during a sports-focused manual therapy course, I had the opportunity to test the clinical effectiveness of counterstrain techniques. In short, this framework—and especially the contemporary FCS approach—gave me a clearer understanding of the underlying “why” behind both my clinical successes and my limitations. Each new FCS course continues to refine my practice, helping me address previous gaps and deepen my clinical reasoning.
Below is my current curriculum in FCS and Strain Counterstrain modalities.

Dr. Zach Schmucker was born and raised in the small town of Middlebury, IN, where he developed a passion for health and wellness, leading him to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
After graduating with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Trine University, he moved to Fort Wayne and quickly realized that something was missing from the modern medical approach: the identification of root causes.
This realization led him on a journey to discover why his patients experienced dysfunction, rather than simply identifying what their dysfunctions were. Eventually, this journey led him to Fascial Counterstrain (FCS), a method that radically reshaped the path of his career. FCS not only explains the “why” of pain and dysfunction, but it also equips Dr. Zach and other FCS practitioners with the tools needed to create true, lasting changes for patients.
Dr. Zach has since moved from Indiana to The Villages, FL to open up his own practice in order to provide the best care possible to his patients.
Currently he is a mobile PT servicing The Villages. If you or someone you know would be traveling to see me, please reach out to coordinate the treatment location.
